Man! I can't believe I've in the Black Hills area for a whole week now. Day six after leaving the Powder House Lodge, I decide to spend at the two towns of Deadwood and Sturgis and their surrounding areas.
Like most of the days I've been experiencing lately, the day started out with cool sunny morning. I knew it was going to be a good day when I got my breakfast at McDonald for FREE on account of an employee's mistake. ALRIGHT!
My first stop, Fort Meade just outside of the world famous town of Sturgis, SD. Fort Meade is only active today as a post for the National Guard and a VA Hospital. It's a very beautiful place. It's very spread out over a large area with the Black Hills in the background reaching for the clear blue sky. Most of the original buildings are still standing and still in use.
There was a museum there, so I decide to pay it a visit. It was housed in one of original buildings. The museum is layed out in such a way that takes you through the time the fort was built which was during the Indian War through present day. It was cool. There were indian artifacts, millitary, and civilian artifacts. The museum visit was well worth the three dollar admission fee.
