Pipestone MN - one more stop before getting to South Dakota

Western and central Minnesota are quite different from the eastern part of Minnesota. There's basically nothing there except for rolling grassy prairie land. In other words, welcome to the Great Northern Plains. This was definitely Plains Indian country. Dakota and Lakota country.

While on my way to South Dakota, I decided to make a quick stop at the Pipestone National Park in Pipestone MN. There was a Visitor Center and a outdoor tour path that went to a couple of pipestone quarries that surrounded the Visitor Center. There were a lot of cool indian artifacts on display at the Visitor Center, including some really cool pipes.

The outdoor tour, on the other hand, was kind of boring. Still, I was glad that I went there, because before that day, I never knew what Pipestone was.
