A Day a the Old River Bridge, Glacier National Park, MT

After many days of hiking at the park, I thought I’d take a break and dedicate a whole day to the pups. The prefect place for them to run freely was at the Old River Bridge that crosses over the Middle Fork Flathead River. The Old River Bridge is where most of the local people bring their dogs to run, swim, and play with other dogs. Snapper and Comet were in heaven. Snapper and Comet were great ice breakers for me to meet and socialize with the locals. Though, these locals didn’t seem as territorial as most locals are in other parts of the world.

This place is also the local hang out for the local kayakers. They gather here to load their kayaks on to vehicles and drive upriver to the drop-in point some 8 miles away. Then they kayak down river and take out at the Old River Bridge. Afterwards, they sit around and drink beer and tell kayaking stories.

All day long, people would jump from the bridge, in spite of the extremely cold water temperature. People would pull up and unload from their rafts, and then jump from the bridge. It was always fun watching them jump from the bridge.
